Stakeholder Engagement

To realize the commitment to our stakeholders, respect and maintain their benefits, Taiflex sets up the Sustainable Development Committee, which is under the supervision of the Chairman and the President. From the environmental protection to the occupational safety, from the corporate governance to the staff rights, and from the product quality to the product development, the Sustainable Development team covers all internal departments to handle the issues related to the stakeholders such as the government, society, shareholders, employees, customers, and suppliers, with the expectation to fulfill the CSR missions and responsibilities.

Continue to communicate effectively with stakeholders and report the communication results to the board of directors (the latest reported on January 11, 2023), Taiflex refers to GRI 4.0 and includes the identification consideration scope and boundary.

The related steps are explained as below:

Step 1: Identify stakeholders

We define the stakeholder as the internal and external groups or individuals that influence the organizational operation or are influenced by the organization. According to this definition, the main stakeholders of the Company include the government, society, investors, employees, customers and suppliers.

Step 2: Collect sustainable issues

The scope of Taiflex's sustainable issues refers to the considerations of GRI 4.0 indexes and the sustainable report of the domestic benchmarking enterprises.

Step 3: Conduct analysis and priority ranking among the material issues

As for the above scope of issues, the CSR Committee members and the internal departmental representatives of the Company hold discussion meeting, and determine the impact degree on the corporate operation based on the issues concerned in the routine communication channels. Finally, the main considerations are summarized based on high concern and high impact, which become the material issues prioritized for communication.

Step 4: Identify scope and boundary of considerations

The key considerations ranked based on the importance are identified in accordance with whether the impacts related to operation, procedure and service occur internally or externally, so as to completely present the value chain covered by the Company.

Step 5: Review and discussion

Based on the material analysis results and discussion of the report preparation team, the sustainable issues prioritized for disclosure are finally determined.

  • The Company obtained ISO14001 Environmental Management Systems certification and OHSAS18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems certification (Kunshan factory), and continued to enhance workplace safety for employees.
  • The Company devoted to various energy-saving projects to diminish the impact on costs and at the same time, committed to the recycling and renewal of waste resources to improve competitiveness and work towards the management goals of minimum energy consumption as well as cost optimization. Environmental protection work has been actively promoted by the government in recent years and total quantity control measure is adopted to impose stricter requirements. To fulfill our social responsibilities and for sustainable developments, we employ the latest ISO14001: 2015 - Environmental Management Systems: Plan → Do → Check → Action for continuing improvements. Furthermore, we take into account the life cycle of raw material - extraction, manufacturing, distribution and waste in the discussion of internal and external issues, and uphold our environment, safety and health policies of legal compliance, green research and development, waste reduction & recycling, full participation, workplace safety, risk control, energy conservation & carbon reduction, and continuing improvements to reduce the risk of occupational disasters and impact on the environment.
Society Employee Care
  • Pursuant to “Procedures for Safety, Health and Environment Protection Training” in Taiflex’s occupational safety and health management system, employees are taught of dangerous machinery and equipment and “Regulations for Occupation Safety and Health Education and Training”. With regards to employees’ health and safety, the Company provides continuing care and management. There are above-standard health check-ups, annual special health examinations, semi-annual environment monitoring, etc. Outcome of these examinations are analyzed in order to organize relevant health promotion activities. Guidance and health education services are provided to employees with unfavorable outcomes. There are also health-related seminars available to employees. We carry out safety and health promotion and monitor the effectiveness.
Customer Care
  • In response to market globalization to ensure the quality, safety and reliability of the products, Taiflex actively obtains various international safety certifications including Underwriter Laboratories Inc. (UL) and TUV Rheinland (TUV) - German safety certification institution. It provides certification services for product safety, quality and management system.
  • Customer satisfaction is the heart of our management philosophy. We are committed to deliver innovative products and services to customers and uphold the core value of responsibility and enthusiasm. Taiflex has dedicated department providing services to customers and working closely with the quality assurance department to solve product issues ranging from appearance to functionality. To cope with globalization of production among downstream customers, we have service personnel stationed at Kunshan, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Xiamen, and Nantong besides Taiwan to enhance the accessibility and timeliness of our customer services.
Corporate Governance Legal Compliance
  • Established the corporate governance organization, complied with Securities and Exchange Act to disclose information, and established a corporate governance system which ensures shareholders' rights of being fully informed of, participating in and making decisions over important matters of the Company. To protect shareholders' rights and interests and treat all shareholders equitably.
    Strengthen the Functions of Directors and Perform Directors’ Duties
  • Arranged the continuing educations and provided the relevant issues for Directors to make them realize the latest laws, development of regulations and their legal liabilities.
  • In term of the Articles of Incorporation, the Company shall obtain directors liability insurance with respect to liabilities resulting from exercising their duties of good administrators during their terms of directorship.
